ABSTRACT
With the use of mist nets set up in the Chusmisa valley (19°41'02'’S; 69°10'40'’W)
in the Tarapacá Region we captured 14 species of birds, three of which represent extensions of
their distribution or new information on avifaunal distribution in northern Chile: Hooded Siskin
(Carduelis magellanica), Blue-and-yellow Tanager (Thraupis bonariensis), and Canyon Canastero
(Asthenes pudibunda), the latter species having been reported only near Putre. This
report expands the distribution of this species 100 km south.
